Sedation Dentistry

It is no secret that some people have a particular phobia about going to dentist. This is quite common and in many instances the patient prefers to let their dental care go untreated rather than enduring the dental chair. Luckily, we can ease your anxiety and fear with sedation. Sedation dentistry is a great regardless of your dental care needs.

Types of Sedation We Offer:

Nitrous Oxide:

More commonly referred to as “laughing gas.” You calmly inhale the mixture of gas and oxygen through a mask, which is placed over your nose. This is to make you relax. Your doctor will monitor the volume in order to make sure you have adequate supply, adjusting if needed. Since Nitrous Oxide wears off rather quickly, this is the only form of sedation that gives you the liberty to drive yourself home after your procedure.

Oral Sedation:

This type of sedation requires you take a dosage of Halcion approximately one hour prior to your procedure. The dosage volume will be determined by contributing factors such as procedure type. This pill will have the effects of drowsiness, although you will still be awake. Some people can become groggy enough to fall asleep completely from larger dosages of Halcion. The two main benefits of oral sedation are little to NO recollection of your procedure. If you are still wondering about those needles, you can rest easy knowing there are NO NEEDLES involved!

IV Sedation:

Much like Oral Sedation, IV Sedation is considered a moderate level of sedation. It is designed to put you at complete ease eliminating any anxiety and or pain. You will be so comfortable in fact you will be completely unaware of the sights, smells and sounds of the dental office. Your doctor will monitor your level of sedation and will adjust accordingly to keep you in a comfortable state the entire time. This medication is felt almost immediately and you will have no memory of your appointment!
